About the Author

Hello mo caraid! (Scottish Gaelic for “my friend”)

I’m Mara Caitlin—a folkloric fantasy author, hobby painter, and founder of Waves of Whimsy, a creative initiative for ocean conservation. My world is made of stories, sea mist, and a slightly (okay, very) chaotic desk covered in paint, pages, and seaside treasures.

Everything I create, from books to scribbles, is inspired by Celtic folklore, coastal wonder, and the quiet magic tucked inside everyday life. I believe in myth as memory, creativity as activism, and the idea that even the softest voice can cause storms.

I write for the dreamers, the believers, the beautiful souls who’ve never quite fit in. For those who search for selkies in the waves, hear wisdom in the trees, and see stories shimmering all around us—my novels are for you.

I may not have come from the sea *cough born in the Arizona desert cough*, but my soul certainly did. Even my name, Mara, means “of the sea” (among other things). The ocean and its wonders have always been part of my being, just like stories and ancient lore.

I’ve been writing fables since I could think them, painting since I could hold a brush, and dreaming since I first opened my eyes.

When I’m not writing or painting, I’m homeschooling my two wildlings, exploring tidepools, and getting lost in wonder with my family.

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to my world. And with a forever grateful heart—thank you for being here.
